BGC Launch 'Green Wizard' Project!

BGC’s Green Wizard character brought a touch of magic to a primary school drama lesson at the launch of the book to promote renewable energy to schoolchildren.

Actor and storyteller Derek Poulson gave an energetic performance of the story to a group of around 80 children, who marvelled at the tale of Bertram Geoffery Chillipepper – BGC to his friends – defeating the evil wart warlock Carlos Hemlock and helping families make the most of solar power and heat pumps.

Children learned that installing renewable energy can reduce energy bills and protect the environment.

Mark Sims, chief executive of BGC Renewables’ parent company Environ Group, said: “It was great to see the children faces as they listened to the story and enjoyed the laughs.

“But when the teachers followed the story up in their lesson, it was clear that the important messages were sinking in, and the children were grasping the news that renewable energy is good for everyone.

“These children are the first generation to grow up in a world where renewable energy is a sustainable option for everyone.

“That’s why we see it as so important to provide resources for teachers like the green wizard book and we will be rolling the programme out to schools in areas where we work and eventually around the UK.”

As well as the story book of the Green Wizard and the Precious Energy Source, a professionally-produced audio file is available which can be downloaded to an i-pod.
